When You Feed On Negativity, You Starve Your Soul Of Gratitude
The mind is the starting point for all spiritual transformation—it influences our behavior, character, and approach to daily life. Karin Hadadan, best-selling author of Beauty in the Stillness, reminds us that negative thinking breeds negative experiences. Joy begins with the mindset we harbor.
When our mindset is negative, we tend to harbor anger, resentment, bitterness, frustration, stress, and anxiety, allowing those thoughts to define the reality in which we live. The more energy we give to the negative, the more our experiences reflect that negativity.
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Romans 12:2
This isn’t of our own making; the world we inhabit operates in this manner—the news cycles, the gossip, the focus on problems. While we all have conformed to the patterns of this world at times, we have the ability to be transformed—to completely change from the inside out.
When we ask God to renew our mind, we walk a path where the things that once consumed us no longer do. Rather than fixating on problems in our lives, we focus our energy on everything we can be grateful for. When things don’t go our way, rather than feeling frustrated, we simply trust that something better awaits us. These shifts in thinking aren’t superficial positive thinking—they represent the deep renewal that comes when we align our thoughts with God’s truth. As our minds are renewed, we become capable of testing and approving what God’s will is—discerning His good, pleasing, and perfect plan for our lives. Because when we follow God’s will for us, we come to realize our role in the divine plan. It starts within our minds, and once we’re transformed, we are able to confidently go where God is leading us. But this time, we have faith, we have trust, and we have a perspective that allows us to move through the inevitable ebbs and flows on the journey toward our destiny.Your Daily Devotional 5/19/2025: Ask God To Renew Your Mind
