Here are the stages of a spiritual awakening:

Experiencing a triggering event.

A significant life event, crisis, or intense emotional experience can serve as a catalyst for this spiritual awakening. This event can often be triggering and can manifest in various ways: physical pain, emotional turmoil, uprooting past trauma, relationship issues, or a mini mid-life crisis. While this stage is intense, overwhelming, and uncomfortable, it’s deeply important to face your suffering so you can begin to move toward healing and transformation.

After the major triggering event, you might go through a period of intense inner turmoil, desperation, fear, lostness, and loneliness. This can be a “Dark Night of the Soul.” You might start to acknowledge and embrace your Shadow Self: the parts of you that you or others have rejected, have held you back, or have been shoved into the depths of your being. The Shadow Self is our fear, guilt, trauma, shame, and behavioral patterns and projections.

Questioning beliefs and seeking answers.

During this stage, you might start to question your long-held beliefs and cultural conditioning. You start to question who you are, what you believe in, and what your purpose is. You start to wonder about the meaning of life and the mysteries behind the Universe. Who am I? What is my purpose here on Earth? What is the meaning of life? What happens after we die?

Disillusionment.

The questioning process will make you feel a sense of disillusionment. Who am I? What do I believe in? What is my purpose here on Earth? With an open mind, you will want to explore philosophical and spiritual paths, seek guidance from mentors, and read books on spirituality and philosophy. You will feel drawn to mindfulness and meditation, energy healing, or other various practices.

Experiencing inner transformation.

Going through a spiritual journey will lead to a greater awareness of the Universe and the world in which we live, and with this awareness comes a sense of inner peace, love, and unity. You’ll start to become more compassionate, empathetic, and understanding towards yourself and others.

Accepting, surrendering, and continuing to grow.

As you’re going through a spiritual awakening, you will start to accept the journey you’re on and the life you’re living. You’ll surrender to it. You’ll let go and put your trust in the Universe. You will understand that death, life, and rebirth are inevitable and that everything that is supposed to happen will happen. You will start to enjoy living in the present moment by embracing the beauty of life.

There will always come a point in life, in growth, where peace stops silencing itself, and it starts demanding to be chosen. A point where your soul grows restless in what once felt familiar. A point where the same space that used to ignite you and inspire you begins to feel too small, too heavy to hold. That is not failure, that is not something to ignore or to write off — it is direction. It is God showing you that what once held you gently, and in the most beautiful way, is now holding you back, is now asking you to trust the unknown. It is God’s grace disguised as discomfort, it is God’s guidance disguised as an ache, as letting go.

Because at the end of the day, you cannot build a future on anything that keeps you roped to the past. You cannot expect your new life to take root, to anchor, in an environment that was meant to carry you for a season, in an environment that is not equipped to sustain your growth. 

And yet, it is so incredibly easy to stay, it is so incredibly easy to settle, because leaving something you once prayed for with your whole heart can feel like self-betrayal. Because we often confuse fighting for something with loving it, we often confuse attachment and loyalty. Because we forget that God never asked us to endure, or to suffer, for what he already wrote out of our story, what he already encouraged us to release. When he asks you to let go, it isn’t to take from you, or to punish you — it is to return you to yourself.

Yes, it will hurt. Even when you know that it is the right thing to do, even when you trust in the story God is writing for you. It will hurt because endings are never just about other human beings; they are about who you were when you loved them, they are about the version of you who believed that this was it, that your heart could finally exhale. You will grieve not only what couldn’t stay, but you will also have to mourn the future you imagined within it. You will replay the memories, trying to find the one that could have rewritten the ending, the one that could have softened the hurt. 

But slowly, in time, you will come to see that the closure you are searching for was never meant to come from understanding — it was only ever meant to come from acceptance.

Letting go is an act of faith. It is trusting that God sees what you can’t. It is having faith in the belief that he is not punishing you with a quieter life, but rather, he is protecting you with it. You have to give yourself permission to stop reopening the doors that God already closed. You have to give yourself permission to trust that the right things will never require you to lose yourself in order to keep them, in order to be blessed by them. They will meet you where you are. They will expand with you. They will bring you closer to peace, not further from it.

This is the beginning, the becoming — not the ending. This is where you start again, not from a place of loss, but from a place of clarity, from a place of deep alignment. This is where you are being encouraged to have faith in the fact that sometimes loss is the only way God could lead you home. That grief and grace often share the same face. That the love you thought you so deeply wanted was never meant to eclipse the love that God was waiting to give you, the love that he had already written into your story.

You did not lose what was meant for you — you made room for what is still to come.

And room is always how God begins again. It is always how he does his best work.

You stop talking about the thing that hurt you. You stop checking in on it, stop naming it, stop bringing it into rooms where it no longer seems to belong. And for a while, that silence feels like peace, like hope. You convince yourself that because you’re not aching over it anymore, you must be healed.

But healing isn’t always the absence of pain, and avoidance has a way of disguising itself in ways we least expect it to, in ways we cannot express. 

Sometimes we don’t move on—we just move forward. We get back to work. We say yes to motivating plans. We fill our calendars. We keep ourselves in motion. But in the quiet moments, in the unguarded spaces, the ache still makes itself known. It takes the shape of a name spoken too casually, or a memory that resurfaces, or a corner of your heart you realize you’ve kept off-limits even from yourself.

And that’s when you start to ask yourself, “Am I really healing, or am I just surviving?”

This space is tender, it’s disorienting, and it’s more common than most human beings like to admit. At the end of the day, avoidance is easier than facing what hasn’t been resolved. It asks less of us. It feels like control. But the hard truth is that what we refuse to name often refuses to leave, to heal. Unprocessed pain doesn’t just vanish—it finds quieter corners to live in.

This is not a call to dig up everything you’ve ever buried. This is not an invitation to rip yourself open in the name of healing properly or perfectly. This is a gentle reminder that you do not have to fear what is still tender inside of you. You do not have to rush your way into wholeness. God is not impatient with your process. He is not measuring your progress by how composed you seem or how many days it has been since you last fell apart.

Healing is not linear. It is not always obvious. Sometimes, the real breakthrough comes when you stop trying to prove that you’ve moved on and instead allow yourself to be honest about where you are. You are allowed to feel the weight of what happened. You are allowed to still have questions. You are allowed to be in progress.

You may not know if you’re in a season of healing, or a season of surviving—but the fact that you’re asking means that something has shifted. Something in you wants the truth more than you want the comfort of numbness. That desire, however small, however quiet—is sacred. 

God doesn’t need you to have the full answer. He just needs your permission to meet you in the middle of the unknown— and he will, every single time.

It is choosing hope when logic points to disappointment. It is choosing faith when fear is loud. It is choosing to trust that God is still able, still present, still moving, even in the places where you feel stuck or defeated.

Miracles don’t always arrive with a dramatic moment. Sometimes they come quietly — in the shift of a conversation, in a diagnosis that changes, in a burden that suddenly feels lighter, in an open door you didn’t expect, in strength you didn’t know you had. Sometimes the miracle is the situation changing, and other times the miracle is you changing in the middle of it.

When you pray for a miracle, you are not asking God to bend to your timeline — you are inviting Him to do what only He can do in the way He knows is best. You are releasing control, releasing fear, releasing the outcome. You are acknowledging that there are places in your story where only God’s hand can reach.

And here’s the truth:
God has not run out of ways to help you.
He has not run out of doors to open.
He has not run out of healing to give.
He has not run out of miracles.

If you are reading this and praying for something big, something personal, something pressing, something you have carried quietly — I am believing with you. God is not finished. He is working in ways you can’t see yet, aligning what needs to be aligned, preparing what needs to be prepared, and strengthening you for what’s coming.

Hold onto hope with both hands. Your miracle may already be on its way.

A Short Prayer

God,

You see the situation weighing on my heart — the one that feels too big for me, too heavy for my hands, too complicated for anything but Your intervention. I am asking for what only You can do. Move in the places where I have reached the end of my strength. Bring clarity where there is confusion, healing where there is hurt, and possibility where everything feels impossible.

Open a door that no amount of effort could force open. Make a way through what looks like a wall. Breathe life into what feels finished. I’m not asking out of desperation — I’m asking out of faith, knowing that You are still the God of breakthroughs, the God of restoration, the God of sudden shifts and quiet wonders.

Prepare my heart for the miracle, and prepare the miracle for my life. Let Your timing be perfect, let Your purpose be clear, and let Your presence be undeniable in every step of this journey.
