Because you were too passive about your own love life.

You’ve never struggled with making friends – you have a very approachable and magnetic nature. But when it comes to romantic prospects, you’ve always retreated, stayed quiet, and preferred that other people make the big moves. Because every time you were dating someone or were in a relationship, you tried to run the whole thing yourself. 

Your natural gift for leadership is typically a very positive quality – except for when it negatively impacts your relationships. The problem is that you’ve forgotten in the past that a relationship is about the mutual support, decision-making, and union of two equal partners. Instead of looking at your relationships that way, you’ve looked at them as things that you need to run, control, and perfect. It’s not a healthy way to live, for you or your partner, and it’s something that’s always going to ruin your relationships until you learn to start prioritizing balance.

Because you were searching for reasons for your relationships not to work out. 

You have a hard time not being critical of others – especially when you’re in a vulnerable place, such as a relationship where you’re not yet sure how you feel or what you want. Sometimes out of insecurity, and sometimes out of fear, you ended up criticizing the person you were dating or criticizing your relationship – searching for flaws and for reasons why it would ultimately fail, as if you were trying to get ahead of possible disappointment. Until you start letting yourself actually try to fall in love, regardless of the risk of heartbreak, you’re going to remain single.

Because you let other people have way too much say in your love life. 

You’re great at making friends and showing affection, but you’re not so great at making sure that you don’t let other people have too much say in your life and your choices. You’re so close with your loved ones that when they give you advice or share an opinion about a choice you’re making (or a person you’re dating), you’re not able to look at it just as something to consider – instead, you convince yourself that you must now feel this way too. That other people’s opinions are always the right opinions, even if you disagree. In 2026, when it comes to your dating life (and even other aspects of your life), you have to start making choices for yourself instead of letting everyone else decide things for you.

Because you got too comfortable with being secretive and detached. 

You love having your own independent life, which is an awesome mentality – but you haven’t yet realized that being in a relationship doesn’t mean you can’t also be independent. You spent too much time in 2025 trying to keep a safe distance from whoever you were seeing or dating or talking to you, and you caught so caught up in trying to keep your personal life and your dating life separate that it just ended up blowing up in your face. You need to spend 2026 learning how to let people in while still maintaining a healthy balance of individuality – it’s absolutely possible.

Because you actually put too much logic and practicality into your dating life. 

Being practical, reasonable, and rational in love is actually important – to a point. But you were so practical, and so set on being logical that you started looking at love too formulaically. Rather than allowing yourself to just breathe and live in the moment and enjoy the person you were with, you were trying to plan out every step – are we compatible? at what point would we want to move in together? at what age would they want to start a family? At some point, you do have to answer these kinds of questions when you possibly want to form a life with someone, but it becomes a problem when it takes up every second of your time together and is the only thing you think about. You should continue to be smart and well-reasoned in your love life, but you also have to live a little.

Faith isn’t meant to be passive—without intentional pursuit, you slowly drift away. You must put the word of God into action.

Inspired by a TikTok I saw, here are some verses to help you spiritually recover from a breakup.

God Is Close to the Brokenhearted

Verse: “The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” – Psalm 34:18​

Lesson: When you feel devastated, remember that God is right there with you. He sees your pain and cares deeply. You can talk to Him about everything you’re feeling. Knowing that God is near the brokenhearted can bring comfort – you are not facing this hurt alone, and His presence can help ease your sorrow.

Let God Heal Your Heart

Verse:“Allow God to reshape your heart and heal you, stop trying to figure out what to do on your own.” – Ezekiel 36:26–27

Lesson: Instead of overanalyzing what went wrong, surrender your heart to God. He knows the healing process better than we do. Let go of the need to control every outcome and trust that God is working on your heart, renewing and strengthening you in ways you can’t yet see.

Trust God’s Plan

Verse: “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” – Proverbs 3:5–6​

Lesson: Heartbreak can be confusing and make you question why this happened. This verse reminds you to rely on God’s wisdom, not your own. Even when you don’t understand, God knows the bigger picture. By trusting Him and acknowledging Him during this painful time, you allow Him to guide you forward. Believe that God can direct you to better things ahead, even if you can’t see them yet.

Choose Forgiveness

Verse: “Forgive yourself and forgive them no matter what happened. Forgive like Jesus forgives us daily, and learn to view people from the perspective God views us.” – Colossians 3:13

Lesson: Forgiveness isn’t just for the other person—it’s for your own peace. Holding onto resentment only keeps you stuck in pain. Just as God forgives us, we must extend that same grace to others and ourselves. This doesn’t mean excusing hurtful behavior, but it allows you to move forward without bitterness weighing you down.

Look Ahead with Hope

Verse: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 29:11​

Lesson: Heartbreak is not the end of your story. God promises that He has plans for your life – plans filled with hope and a future. It may be hard to imagine brighter days when you’re in pain, but trust that God is preparing a new chapter for you. With faith, you can begin to look forward instead of dwelling on the past. Take hopeful steps, no matter how small, trusting that God’s plan will lead you to joy in time.

Remember healing takes time and it will not always be a linear path, but God’s love for you has never wavered and it never will.

Nowhere is the well drier than for those looking to quench their thirst for love in the barren landscape of modern dating. Christian women provide nourishment for men who have hurt their hearts trying to find love in this broken system. Of course, you’ve got to be a Godly man to earn a Christian woman’s trust and open her heart to romantic love, but that’s another topic altogether.

Here are the rare qualities Christian women possess that set them (far, far) apart from the cultural norm in dating:

1. They embrace being humble.

What gets lost in the “what do you bring to the table?” discourse is that we are all fallible human beings hoping to love each other despite our shortcomings. The Bible teaches us that we are all sinners and that we are all redeemed through Christ. If God is at the center of your life, you don’t have to pretend to be perfect and you can form more authentic relationships because they are built on honesty. When you cultivate a mutual dynamic of repenting for your sins and trying to do better, dating won’t feel like a competition about who “deserves” more.

2. They prioritize family life.

Of course this is a good attribute for men who hope to start a family one day, but it’s also important in the dating stage. Prioritizing family means that you have a network of people who love you to receive wisdom from. It means you have similar ideas about how you’ll spend your free time and what’s really important to you in life. It also sets a standard to not get so busy that you neglect your relationship. Putting family first means you guard the quality of your close relationships and tend to this garden before planting more seeds elsewhere.

3. They radiate kindness.

Modern dating has necessarily made women suspicious of potential suitors, which can lead to them being aloof (at best) or bitter (at worst) towards men in general. Christian women base their lives on the teachings of Jesus – teachings like forgiveness and showing kindness to others – even strangers. No matter how many times she is hurt, a Christian woman does her best to love others and show them the kind of unfaltering love God gives to her.

4. They don’t trust worldly dating advice.

There is a lot of junk dating advice out there. Influencers instruct followers to act selfishly and treat their dates as disposable objects to be exploited. Christian women seek wisdom from the Bible and from trusted church leaders and Godly family members. This naturally protects them from falling for such selfish advice masquerading as “dating tips.”

5. She cares more about inner beauty than superficial appearances.

Nowhere in the Bible does it instruct women to chase tall men, or to date for money or to prioritize looks over personality in any way. Instead, the characteristics that are prized are a man who loves the Lord and possesses the fruits of the spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness and self-mastery. Similarly, Christian women aspire to be more than their looks, guided by the words of Proverbs 31:30: “Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.”

6. They aren’t afraid to be tender-hearted.

Modern dating requires thick skin which in turn hardens the hearts of people who choose to date in this manner. Christian women are taught to stay gentle. The Bible praises women who are pure of heart, devote themselves to loving service, and use their words to build others up instead of tearing them down.

7. They’ll encourage your faith.

Let’s be honest, how many women encourage their partner’s spiritual growth? It’s hard for a woman to do this if she doesn’t even care about her own spiritual growth! Some women even view it as feminine or not manly to care about your relationship with God. A Christian woman, on the other hand, will demand that her partner invest in his spiritual life. She’ll even join in with him, praying together and sharing about her own faith walk.
